MISSON STATEMENT

Old Mission Montessori School operates according to the principles of the Montessori Method of Education. It emphasizes the innate potential of the child and his/her ability to develop in environmental conditions of freedom and love. The Montessori philosophy postulates the importance of a positive self-image and independence in learning.

The Montessori curriculum places no restraints on the student’s ability and provides manual and physical activity for all aspects of learning. Through the use of concrete and abstract experiences, the child achieves mastery of self and the child’s environment. As a community and a learning environment, we respect and value the uniqueness of each person. We acknowledge the responsibility of developing Christian children with a sense of self-discipline, individual responsibility, personal confidence, and a true love of learning.

Old Mission Montessori School offers a nurturing and stimulating, education for preschool and elementary years. Extra care and time is taken to ensure that each child’s spiritual, social, intellectual, and emotional development is awakened and set on a course of future fulfillment.

Staff and families who attend Old Mission Montessori School work closely together to foster the Montessori philosophy, as an approach to learning, which will stimulate the child’s enthusiasm for new ideas and skills.
