Art

Art is an important element in our Montessori environment.  We begin by discussing the five elements of shape to assist the child in defining the composition of what they see or touch.  Through the utilization of distinctive types of media the child is provided an opportunity to creatively explore, express and capture what they survey visually or perceive emotionally.  In the course of these opportunities to create one becomes more aware and focused on detail, hopefully more apt to appreciate everything in their environment.

Choir

Choir is open to students beginning with the 2nd grade level in Junior Elementary. Students must have a signed permission slip on file in the office in order to participate. Choir practice is usually held after school until 4:00 pm on the first and third Friday of each month.

Foreign Language

Spanish is offered twice a week to children in our elementary programs. Emphasis is on conversational Spanish and cultural appreciation.

Music

Music is offered weekly to children 2 ½ to 14 years of age. The children use their voices as their primary instruments as they begin to explore music, movement, and music theory. They are introduced to a variety of instruments and music from different cultures.

Physical Education

Physical Education is part of the regular weekly program for all children. On the primary side physical education is incorporated into the weekly schedule by the classroom and outdoor environment teachers. For the transition and elementary students physical education is provided twice a week by a physical education instructor. There is a wide range of activities offered, including, but not limited to, group sports, physical fitness activities, coordination activities, and information shared about health and nutrition.
